Moles, Lumps & Bumps

Surgical

Concerned about moles, bumps, lumps, or skin tags? Discover convenient outpatient solutions for minor surgical needs.

Our procedures address a range of skin and soft tissue conditions, including mole excision, skin tag removal, seborrheic keratosis treatment, lipoma removal, and cyst extraction.

Dr. Stone is a board-certified plastic surgeon and can assess your concerns during your consultation. However, she does not treat or manage skin cancers at Clinic 805. If skin cancer is suspected, please see a family physician and/or nurse practitioner to have a referral submitted to an appropriate specialist in the area.

As long as these procedures are considered cosmetic and not covered under the Medical Services Plan, no referral is required. However, there will be fees for the surgeon’s services, as well as the equipment used for any subsequent treatment. Please contact our team with some details of your area of concern, and we would be happy to provide a no-commitment quote prior to booking an appointment.

What can I expect from my procedure?

These procedures are typically done in 60 minutes or less, under local anesthetic with little to no downtime needed, so you can resume your usual activities shortly after treatment. A follow-up appointment for suture removal will be scheduled 5-10 days after your procedure, as required. This appointment will be arranged at the time of your initial consultation.

YOUR QUESTIONS Answered

Certain features or irregularities may require early consultation with your family physician and/or nurse practitioner to make sure your concern is purely cosmetic and suited for removal at our clinic. If your lump or bump is determined to be eligible for coverage under the Medical Services Plan, your family physician and/or nurse practitioner will send a referral to an appropriate specialist for further care.

Bumps and lumps that may be eligible include:

  • Lipomas: Soft lumps underneath the skin made up of fat calls. These typically grow on the neck, shoulders, back, arms, and thighs.
  • Sebaceous cysts: Firm, round lumps filled with sebum and keratin that grow when a sebaceous gland gets blocked. These can grow anywhere on the face or body.
  • Skin cysts: Bumps or capsules in the skin that are full of fluid or solid material. These form most commonly on the face, scalp, neck, trunk, or limbs.
  • Skin tags: Small growths with a short, raised stalk that visibly stick out from the skin. These form most commonly on the eyelids, neck, armpit, or inner thigh.
  • Moles – Dark or flesh-coloured skin growths that may be flat or raised.

Any procedure involving skin excision will result in a scar. Dr. Stone takes great care to minimize scarring and provide optimal cosmetic results.
